If you can pull up LinkedIn, look for Delos Cosgrove, CEO and President fo Cleveland Clinic’s piece on Empathy: Can We Afford to Do Without It? It is so exciting to see such a progressive and visible healthcare leader advocating the value of this and other emotional intelligence skills and capacities! Developing the skills is an exciting new frontier and one in which Improv will play a great role. trust, listening, speaking up, taking risk, self-awareness, self-esteem, self-efficacy, flexibility, perspective-taking, collaboration…. Have fun playing Improv activities and grow vital skills? Is this for real?
It is a hot topic!
Alan Alda is doing it with Stonybrook for scientists. Boston Children’s Hospital is using actors for building empathy in docs. Northwestern University piloted the first ever train the train the trainer workshop in Medical Improv in June 2013 (The most amazing professional experience I’ve ever had!). I launched “Improv for Healthcare Professionals” in May of 2013 and am always growing my own EQ at Light Up Improv with David La Graffe in Portland, ME. Maybe I’ll see you there sometime! 🙂
