As an Organizational Development Consultant & Author specializing in communication and collaboration, I am convinced that “Medical Improv” will help healthcare professionals and organizations provide safe, quality, and cost-effective care. During our live session, I will share more about the principles of Improv, the skills it builds, the need for same in healthcare today, and the most cutting edge and innovative applications for healthcare! Joining me is an impressive panel of leaders in this exciting new field, many of whom participated in the first ever train-the-trainer conference last month at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. (It was truly the most amazing professional experience I have ever had!)
Dr. Dunn practiced cardiovascular and thoracic surgery for 20 years before following a path in health policy and management over the past 10 years. He is currently the director of the integrated ethics program at the Lexington VA Medical Center and adjunct professor of health policy and management at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. As a principle investigator for a 3-year funded grant from the Veterans Medical Center, he developed an interactive, experiential training program for healthcare professionals in the disclosure of adverse events. Improvisational theatre methods were recently integrated into workshop for the program.
Over the next few weeks I’ll share more about who’s who in the line-up. Stay tuned for that and….don’t miss this chance to hear about Ed’s work using Medical Improv with disclosure following a sentinel event! August 13, 2013-1100 am EST!
